REGIONAL CLIMATE
Due to it's great extension, the region presents important climatic variations, principally influenced by the geographical outline, the sea and the winds The average temperatures per season for Punta Arenas are:

In the Torres del Paine National Park tourist area, weather is milder, there also is a microclimate in the Laguna Azul area, where temperatures rise considerably in Summer (25 °C to 30 °C). At the mountaintops their is an ice climate, and in the Pacific coastal area and fiords there is a moderate cold climate with great humidity. A noteworthy point of the austral climate is the amount of daylight, very short days in winter and during summer (December) approximately 18 hours of daylight. This region is one of constant wind, being more intense during spring and summer, in these seasons it reaches an average of 30 to 40 Kms./hr. Usually winter is a calm season.
